I loved it... then I watched it again. The acting is actually pretty horrible ending and it's so corny and cringey. And the underlying plot makes her whole reason destroying universes for what? So mom can seee something inside the bagel she couldnt? Then she was like oh you cant ok lets just hold hands and go together... ok nm ill just go alone Pretty weak underlying plot and you cant deny that. Some acting was wonderful... some was really bad. I was actually embarrassed showing it to a friend because she hated it too and i was right there with her. A lot of great things but all the cleverness is overshadowed by the lack of common sense. I loved the innovation I loved everything about it the first time. I realized it was not as good. It buckles from the weight of its own creativity

What I always find intersesting is how the post apocalyptic world makes man a monster ..in every movie or comicbook ..or show what is hidden in man's mind al soever..and is about to surface

pleaseee do the walking dead!!! i feel like you'd be so good at explaining that its not just a "zombie show" and it conveys a much bigger idea! to me, the show was never intended to be about the "dead" or the "walkers" but was about the human race. the group *is* the walking dead.

I LOVE Fargo.

You gotta check out the show man. The show is not made by the Coens, but the creators did painstaking work to honor their style of storytelling in the show. Season 1 has my favorite TV villain full stop. It's up there with Arcane for me as the rare 10/10 show (at least the first season of each show)

Great example. I'd suggest the anime "Monster" (no pun intended). It shows how terrifying and inhuman its main antagonist can be, as well as how as said antagonist about through its thriller-like plot.

Silco is one of the best written charcaters ever. Absolutely masterful.

David is a manipulator. He is able to warp people’s perspectives and make them think he is a good man who is trustworthy and honest. He thinks he is the messiah for his followers. In a way he’s a cult leader who the people in his group know he is a monster but is either too scared or trapped thinking that as abusive and evil David is he is the only person they believe can help them survive. David is an allegory for abusive relationships and abusive father figures. He thinks he is a messiah a man who shepherds his people to a better tomorrow. David is a monster and a predator who is able to make people believe he isn’t. That’s what’s so terrifying about him.

All I need to know is that I crushed on Kugisaki hard and was repulsed by Sakura. /jk I agree with everything you said.

Hi pey, big fan of your work! I’m really interested to see you take on the Barbie movie, when do you think you’ll make video on it?

I really like the vibe and filmmaking of this video, but I can't help but caught up in the premise. I love the idea of repetition, and making more (and better) things should eventually lead to success in an ideal world. But the Ludwig example just doesn't make sense to me. The idea that you could start a channel from nothing and then achieve success is not demonstrated by an already-rich man with staff and years of experience, producing something as an experiment, and then only succeeding because a larger content creator happened to bless them with watching it and showing it off. I think more exploration about the inherent nature of luck and the dreaded algorithm could be mentioned - everyone is working from the same template, but no one knows what the template actually wants or says, we can only guess based on what others have succeeded at. Brilliant video regardless, I really love your channel. Like many others, I came here from TLoU videos, but I'm excited to see your other videos too :)

3:02 I just have to say I disagree so much with that statement! Ladybird is a good movie, I liked it. Little Women is an absolute great movie and almost perfect in every aspect and I loved it but Barbie in comparison is just a comedy. The femenist ideas in Barbie are not deep and not even subtle and it is absolutely taking the fourground with the amount of times "patriarchy" was named in that movie. All of the actual problems are just scratch on the surface and are so "on-the-nose" that they basically jumped out of the screen. I just watched Little Women yesterday, again and it just made me sad thinking about what Barbie could have been!

Just saw Barbie with my girlfriend who was crazy excited because of how much we both liked Lady Bird. She was so disappointed that she was almost inconsolable lmao. For the record I was also extremely bored after the first act.

Great video again! Greta did a great job in evolving her style to fit a major big budget film but I also like how she still managed to keep her personal touch intact.

I really liked this video and I'm interested by what you have to say about gerwig as a director. But I have to politely disagree with your point that Barbie didn't take itself too seriously. I think as a film and as a narrative, it took itself incredibly seriously. I think Greta made the whole movie FEEL like playing with Barbies while also having a mature conversation about feminism and the role of femininity within that sphere. I think things that are pink and fluffy and cute can be serious too. My sister is trans and she openly sobbed for the entire duration of the film because it's message is so so so clear to women. I think there's levity, and silliness, and there were moments of the film when I was both crying and laughing, but this narrative takes itself exactly as seriously as it should.

Good movies are good movies........ You don't watch movies for diversity, you watch it for entertainment. Gender of the director doesn't make the movie less/more entertaining. If the movie is good I will watch it doesn't matter if it was made by a female or male director.
